W. Michael Walker is the Chairman of the Business section of the firm. Mike's practice focuses on the legal (including tax) and capital needs of real estate, manufacturing, and contractor clients. Mike has significant experience in important issues facing growing and mature companies, including raising capital, evaluating and negotiating acquisitions and divestitures, hiring and retaining key employees (including the implementation of equity-based compensation programs), and the sale of businesses. Mike sits on the Board of a number of his clients.

Relevant Experience:

  • Represents venture capital firms in structuring preferred stock investments.
  • Represents a large ESOP company in multiple financings, refinancings, acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Represents real estate developers in tax planning, acquisitions, joint ventures, exchanges, and dispositions.
  • Represents families in inter-generational wealth transfer planning, including charitable gifting.
  • Represents landowners in planning and implementing conservation easements.
